Florence and the Machine

Mayor John Lindsay gave The Brady Bunch’s Florence Henderson crabs in a one-night stand.  So she says in her upcoming memoir, reports the Daily News (as pointed out to me by Dimitri Cavalli).  Henceforth, in my mind Lindsay will always be associated with sexual decadence and venereal disease.

What clearer evidence could you ask for, as this blog’s “Month of Political Conflict” begins, that politicians are the enemy of culture, not its leaders and protectors?  Today is Canada Day, but we will revisit this topic in earnest three days from now, on Independence Day, with a look at the book Neoconservatism: An Obituary for an Idea by C. Bradley Thompson.

In the meantime: tomorrow let us examine an even more scandal-prone “Lindsay.”

You wonder where Lindsay got them?

I'll blame the DDT ban around that time, as we all should for ongoing West Nile mosquito and bedbug problems.

For him, that's an improvement.
